A Symphony of Whales
TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS
Sound System
If using a house sound system, Steve Schuch requests:
1 Vocal mic & 1 Violin mic on boom stands (plus guitar mic if needed)
Adjustable Compressor/ limiter for vocals
Digital reverb/ delay (Lexicon reverbs are preferred)
CD player that can play through system for whale calls, other effects
Stage monitor speakers
Experienced person to run the system who is familiar
with book and Steve Schuch's music. In some cases, the artist may
also provide his own sound equipment and sound person.
Stage
Steve Schuch will work with existing performance
space. When he arrives, the space should be at concert temperature
with a 4-6 foot long table in place for arranging instruments, props,
and sound equipment.
Slide Projectors and Screen
It's ideal to have a large screen overhead of
the orchestra, or well off to the sides. Two slide projectors with
a dissolving unit give the most pleasing visual effect.
Lighting
Steve can work with existing lighting, though
professional stage lighting helps bring out the most in this show.
Steve's mics are typically positioned near the conductor. A fog
machine is a nice touch when available.
Sales Tables
Steve Schuch requests three 6-8 foot long tables
for CD's, books, and responsible staff or volunteers to run the
sales tables before and after the concert.
Times
It's preferred to do an unhurried tech rehearsal
prior to the orchestra rehearsal, with the same crew that will be
running sound and lights for the performance. The contract will
note arrival time, set up time and other details based on specifics
of the space and event.
